Baby - Hot: Fever Fits

Occasionally, babies or young children with a high temperature will have a fit usually due to a simple virus infection. This does not mean your child is an epileptic. Although this is very frightening for the parent, IT IS IMPORTANT TO STAY CALM. The fit may last a few minutes. Stay with the child until the fit is over and lay the child on his side or tummy in case he  is sick so that he does not choke. When the fit is over, he will probably fall into a natural sleep. When it is safe to move away CALL THE DOCTOR and start cooling him down by removing his clothes and sponging with lukewarm (not cold) water. Give him a suitable dose of paracetamol syrup if he is able to swallow.
