Patient Participation Patient Participation Group We have now set up a Patient Participation Group to discuss and improve the experience and service for our patients at practice level. We also hope this Group will be an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between our patients and the practice. We held our initial meeting on Monday 28 February. We were pleased to be able to share feedback on Patient Suggestions that had been put in our Suggestion box in Reception. Ideas from this have included the addition of some childrens’ magazines, replacement of our CD player with a digital radio (as a number of patients found the CD music irritating) and the acquisition of the necessary software to allow us to offer patients the option to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions on-line. Naturally our patient representatives at the meeting raised a number of concerns about the way Practice- Based Commissioning, led by GP Consortia, is to develop in the next couple of years. At present we have very little information on this matter so we note the concerns of our Patient Group representatives and will provide feedback where possible as the situation develops. Patient representation on the Wirral GP Commissioning Consortium Patient Council One of our patients who is a member of the practice Patient Participation Group also represents the practice at the Wirral GP Commissioning Consortium Patient Council. Our practice is part of this Consortium, along with 26 other local practices and we will be working with them to commission patient services from 2013. They also recognise the importance of patient views and feedback and the Patient Council they have set up includes patient representatives from all the constituent practices. Mr Peter McQueen is our patient representative at this forum and because he is also a member of our practice Patient Group he can feed information back in from Consortium level to the practice. Patient Suggestions As mentioned above we have a Patient Suggestions box in Reception. All suggestions are reviewed at practice meetings and actioned as agreed. We are also undertaking to put a display on the noticeboard in the Porch periodically to give feedback on what action we have taken on suggestions offered.
